This game was created for the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science's Chesapeake Biological Laborotory for people to play and learn about pollution in the Chesapeake Bay. The concept we came up with was to make a match-3 game similar to games like Candy Crush. The game runs on Unity and was created to play on PC. I did all of the game programming, my other group member Sean Uslanian did the menus and supplementary programming related to that, and group members Kristy Castillo and Stefany Oliva Campos created the artwork for the backgrounds, buttons, and game pieces. We created this game over the course of about 4 months and overall I believe we created a fantastic product we could deliver to our client. We tried to make something that stayed realistic in scope while being fun to play, and educational.
Programming Accomplishments
For this game, I designed and created the code necessary for the Match-3 gameplay, including creating and randomizing the board, mouse control for switching pieces, making a match and object deletion, and board refilling & piece falling. I also created 3 different powerups that the player can use, as described in the below screenshot.
